A
Conversation With Carson Willis
How long have you
been playing golf?
About three and a half years.
What are activities you enjoy away
from golf?
Basketball, ping pong, volleyball
and church functions
Who got you started in the game?
Larry, a good friend, got me started.
How much time do you spend practicing golf?
I’m the golf course a lot but not always practicing, a few
hours 3 days a week and all day Saturday.
If you had a dream group of 4, who would be in it?
Tiger, Phil and Adam Scott, they’re the best.
What’s your proudest achievement in golf?
Winning the Boys 12 & Under 9-Hole Club Championship my
first year of playing golf or winning an All-American Junior
Golf Tour event by 14 shots in May of this year. (He’s too
modest to tell you but he also won his high school district
tournament in 2008 but wasn’t old enough for his score to
count.)
How has Atlanta Junior Golf impacted your golfing career?
I played my first competitive round with AJG, I did well my
first season and it gave me confidence to keep playing and
improving. I played my first ever multi-day event in the 2007
Grand Championship at Chateau Elan, it was great and made me
realize how much I enjoyed those type of events.
I was also a member of Team Atlanta last year and got to go to Kauai, Hawaii over Thanksgiving for the Atlanta – Kauai Team Challenge. It was the first time I had ever played in a competitive match play event. We had a great trip.
What are some long term goals for you in golf?
I want to keep playing hard and make an impact on my High
School team, after that I want to play in college.
